Seed Crunch scores every candidate with one of seven methods and sends the best results to your Lotto Seed account. Lotto Seed describes every drawing as one number: where its combination falls among all the combinations the game can draw. A seed is the starting number of a random number generator, and an offset is how far into its sequence you start reading. 1. **Connect your account.** Create an access token on Lotto Seed under Seed Crunch → Access Tokens and paste the token into Seed Crunch. 2. **Choose what to search.** Pick a game, the range of past drawings to test, and one of the seven methods for comparing seeds. 3. **Crunch the numbers.** Seed Crunch tests every seed and offset in your range and keeps only the best results. 4. **Check and share.** Your best seeds go to the public community library on a Free or Premium plan, or stay private with you on a Premium Plus plan. ## The seven methods Seed Crunch offers seven methods for scoring how closely a seed's numbers match the drawings you chose. Lowest Delta Total is included with every Lotto Seed plan, and the other six methods need Premium Plus. Every result also shows its Hits: the number of jackpot drawings the seed predicted exactly. | Method | What it compares | Plan | | --- | --- | --- | | Lowest Delta Total | The total distance between each generated number and its drawing | Every plan | | Sliding Window MAE | The mean absolute error of a moving-average prediction | Premium Plus | | Window Correlation | Whether the numbers rise and fall in the same shape as the drawings | Premium Plus | | Trend Direction | Whether each step goes up or down along with the drawings | Premium Plus | | Multi-Window Consensus | A blend of scores over the first 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 drawings | Premium Plus | | Delta Pattern | The jumps between consecutive drawings | Premium Plus | | Holt-Winters | A smoothed level-and-trend forecast of the drawings | Premium Plus | ### Lowest Delta Total Lowest Delta Total adds up how far each generated number lands from its drawing. Lowest Delta Total is the fastest method, and the only one whose seeds can go into the public library. ### Sliding Window MAE Sliding Window MAE predicts each drawing from the average of the numbers just before it, and keeps the window size that misses least. One odd drawing won't throw Sliding Window MAE off. ### Window Correlation Window Correlation looks at the shape of the sequence rather than the exact numbers: do the seed's numbers rise and fall in the same pattern as the drawings? ### Trend Direction Trend Direction only asks whether each step goes up or down along with the drawings, whatever the size of the move. Trend Direction is simple and very hard to fool. ### Multi-Window Consensus Multi-Window Consensus scores the first 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 drawings and blends the results. A seed has to do well at every length to rank. ### Delta Pattern Delta Pattern compares the jump from one drawing to the next with the jump between generated numbers, so Delta Pattern measures how things change rather than the values themselves. ### Holt-Winters Holt-Winters fits a smoothed level-and-trend forecast to the seed's numbers and checks how well the forecast predicts each drawing. Holt-Winters is the most thorough method, and by far the slowest. ### Winning seeds only The Winning seeds only filter works with any method. Switch the filter on in the wizard to keep only seeds that predicted at least one drawing exactly. ## How to use Seed Crunch Most people use the Seed Crunch app window. If you would rather start Seed Crunch from a terminal, or run Seed Crunch remotely on a computer without a screen, the command line has you covered. ### In the app Log in to lottoseed.com, go to Seed Crunch → Access Tokens and create a token for each computer you use. Then paste the token into Seed Crunch. The Seed Crunch home screen walks you through six steps to create a job: 1. **Where to keep the seeds.** Choose the public library, which is shared with everyone, or your private seeds. 2. **Game.** Search the game list by name. The region where each game is played is shown beside the game. 3. **Method.** Choose one of the seven methods. Any method your plan doesn't include is marked Premium Plus. 4. **Drawings.** Pick the first and last drawing on two calendars. Every drawing in between is included. 5. **Seeds.** Seed Start, Seed End and Max Offset set how far to search. Tick Winning seeds only to keep exact hits. 6. **Start.** Press Start, and Seed Crunch gets to work searching for your next winning seed. **While it runs.** Seed Crunch shows the progress of the job and an estimate of the time left, so you know how long a big search will take before you commit to it. **When it's done.** Seed Crunch shows your results in a sortable table with Seed, Offset, Delta Total, Lowest Delta and Hits columns. The View button opens any seed on Lotto Seed in your browser. ### Command line #### Open the app window The `seedcrunch` command is the same as opening Seed Crunch from your desktop, and closing the window quits the app. On Windows the command is `seedcrunch.exe`. ```sh seedcrunch ``` #### Use it from a browser The `--host` option starts Seed Crunch without a window and listens on port 6334. The .deb package installs WebKitGTK for you. - The AppImage needs FUSE, which almost every Linux desktop already has. ### For full speed you'll need - Full speed needs an NVIDIA graphics card from the GeForce GTX 900 series or newer, up to the RTX 50 series, or a matching Quadro, RTX or data-center card. - The NVIDIA driver must be version 528.33 or newer on Windows, or 525.60.13 or newer on Linux. No CUDA Toolkit is needed. ### Compatibility notes - Without an NVIDIA card, Seed Crunch still runs on your processor, just much more slowly. - Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux 9 and 10, Ubuntu 20.04 and Debian 11 don't have WebKitGTK 4.1. The Seed Crunch AppImage and tar archive still run there and open Seed Crunch in your browser. - On a GPU server without a screen, run the Seed Crunch .deb or tar archive with `--host` and use Seed Crunch from a browser on another computer. - Seed Crunch does not support macOS, ARM processors (Apple silicon, Windows on ARM, Linux on ARM, Raspberry Pi), 32-bit systems, or Linux distributions without glibc, such as Alpine. ## Lotto Seed integration Seed Crunch integrates with Lotto Seed (lottoseed.com). Seed Crunch signs in to your Lotto Seed account with an access token, follows the limits of your Lotto Seed plan, and sends the results of every job back to Lotto Seed, where each seed can be viewed in the browser. ### Connect Seed Crunch to Lotto Seed 1. **Log in to Lotto Seed.** Log in to your account on lottoseed.com. 2. **Create an access token.** Go to Seed Crunch → Access Tokens and create a token for the computer you will run Seed Crunch on. 3. **Paste the token into Seed Crunch.** Open Seed Crunch and paste the access token when Seed Crunch asks for it. 4. **Optional: use a token for one run.** Pass a token on the command line with `--token` to use that token for one run only. `seedcrunch --token ` ### Data flow | From | To | What | Details | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Lotto Seed | Seed Crunch | Your plan | Your plan decides which methods, how many drawings and how many results each job can use. | | Seed Crunch | Lotto Seed | Job results | Seed Crunch sends the best 10 results of each job on Free and Premium, or up to 1,000 on Premium Plus. | | Seed Crunch | Lotto Seed library | Seeds | Seeds go to the public library on Free and Premium; Premium Plus members choose the private or the public library. | | Seed Crunch | Your browser | Seed pages | The View button in the results table opens any seed on Lotto Seed in your browser. | ## Use cases Seed Crunch serves Lotto Seed members on every plan, people with powerful NVIDIA GPU servers, and Linux users on distributions old and new. Each use case below names the problem and how Seed Crunch solves it. ### How Seed Crunch helps Free and Premium members contribute seeds to the public library **Problem:** Lotto Seed members on the Free and Premium plans want to find strong seeds for their game without paying for more. **How Seed Crunch helps:** Seed Crunch runs the Lowest Delta Total method on a game's newest 30 drawings and sends the best 10 results of each job to the Lotto Seed public library, where every member can see them. 1. Create an access token on lottoseed.com and paste the token into Seed Crunch. 2. Pick your game and the Lowest Delta Total method in the job wizard. 3. Start the job and check your best 10 seeds on Lotto Seed when the job finishes. ### How Seed Crunch helps Premium Plus members research a game's full history in private **Problem:** Serious players want to test seeds against every drawing a game has had, compare several scoring methods, and keep their findings private. **How Seed Crunch helps:** On Premium Plus, Seed Crunch runs all seven methods on any drawing in a game's history, sends up to 1,000 results of each job, and saves results to your private seeds or the public library. 1. Choose your private seeds as the place to keep results. 2. Pick any range of drawings on the two calendars in the job wizard. 3. Compare methods such as Window Correlation, Trend Direction and Holt-Winters on the same drawings. ### How Seed Crunch helps GPU server owners run big searches without a screen **Problem:** A headless Linux server with a powerful NVIDIA GPU has no screen to show the Seed Crunch window. **How Seed Crunch helps:** Seed Crunch starts without a window when run with `--host`, listens on port 6334, and serves the full interface to a browser on another computer. 1. Install the Seed Crunch .deb or unpack the tar archive on the server. 2. Run `seedcrunch --host 0.0.0.0`, or add `--port 8080` to pick another port. 3. Open the server's address on that port in a browser on a computer on the same trusted network. ### How Seed Crunch helps users of Linux distributions without WebKitGTK 4.1 **Problem:** Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux 9 and 10, Ubuntu 20.04 and Debian 11 don't ship WebKitGTK 4.1, which the app window needs. **How Seed Crunch helps:** The Seed Crunch AppImage and tar archive still run on those distributions and open Seed Crunch in your browser instead of a window. 1. Download the Seed Crunch AppImage or tar archive. 2. Run Seed Crunch as usual. 3. Use Seed Crunch in the browser tab it opens. ### How Seed Crunch runs on computers without an NVIDIA graphics card **Problem:** Many laptops and office computers have no NVIDIA graphics card. **How Seed Crunch helps:** Seed Crunch falls back to the processor when no supported NVIDIA card is present. Searches still work, just much more slowly, so smaller seed ranges suit these computers best. 1. Install Seed Crunch as usual. 2. Start with a smaller range between Seed Start and Seed End. 3. Use the time-left estimate to decide whether to widen the search. ## Frequently asked questions ### What is Seed Crunch? Each definition is written to stand on its own. **Seed:** A seed is the starting number of a random number generator. The same seed always produces the same sequence of numbers, which is why Seed Crunch can test a seed against past lottery drawings. **Offset:** An offset is how far into a seed's sequence Seed Crunch starts reading. The Max Offset setting of a job limits how far into each sequence Seed Crunch looks. **Random number generator (RNG):** A random number generator is an algorithm that turns a seed into a long sequence of numbers that look random. Seed Crunch compares that sequence with the drawings of a lottery game. **Drawing:** A drawing is one draw of a lottery game. Lotto Seed describes every drawing as one number: where its combination falls among all the combinations the game can draw. **Seed Start and Seed End:** Seed Start and Seed End set the range of seeds a Seed Crunch job tests. A wider range takes longer to search. **Max Offset:** Max Offset sets how far into each seed's sequence a Seed Crunch job searches. A larger Max Offset makes a job search more of each sequence. **Job:** A job is one Seed Crunch search: a game, a range of drawings, a method and a seed range. Seed Crunch shows the progress and an estimate of the time left while a job runs. **Delta:** A delta is the distance between a generated number and the drawing it is compared with. A smaller delta means a closer match. **Hits:** Hits is the number of jackpot drawings a seed predicted exactly. Seed Crunch shows Hits for every result, whatever method produced the result. **Winning seeds only:** The Winning seeds only filter works with any method. Switch the filter on in the wizard to keep only seeds that predicted at least one drawing exactly. **Lowest Delta Total:** Lowest Delta Total is one of the seven Seed Crunch methods and is included with every Lotto Seed plan. Lowest Delta Total adds up how far each generated number lands from its drawing. Lowest Delta Total is the fastest method, and the only one whose seeds can go into the public library. **Sliding Window MAE:** Sliding Window MAE is one of the seven Seed Crunch methods and needs a Premium Plus plan. Sliding Window MAE predicts each drawing from the average of the numbers just before it, and keeps the window size that misses least. One odd drawing won't throw Sliding Window MAE off. **Window Correlation:** Window Correlation is one of the seven Seed Crunch methods and needs a Premium Plus plan. Window Correlation looks at the shape of the sequence rather than the exact numbers: do the seed's numbers rise and fall in the same pattern as the drawings? **Trend Direction:** Trend Direction is one of the seven Seed Crunch methods and needs a Premium Plus plan. Trend Direction only asks whether each step goes up or down along with the drawings, whatever the size of the move. Trend Direction is simple and very hard to fool. **Multi-Window Consensus:** Multi-Window Consensus is one of the seven Seed Crunch methods and needs a Premium Plus plan. Multi-Window Consensus scores the first 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 drawings and blends the results. A seed has to do well at every length to rank. **Delta Pattern:** Delta Pattern is one of the seven Seed Crunch methods and needs a Premium Plus plan. Delta Pattern compares the jump from one drawing to the next with the jump between generated numbers, so Delta Pattern measures how things change rather than the values themselves. **Holt-Winters:** Holt-Winters is one of the seven Seed Crunch methods and needs a Premium Plus plan. Holt-Winters fits a smoothed level-and-trend forecast to the seed's numbers and checks how well the forecast predicts each drawing. Holt-Winters is the most thorough method, and by far the slowest. **Scoring method:** A scoring method is the rule Seed Crunch uses to decide how closely a seed's numbers match the chosen drawings. Seed Crunch offers seven scoring methods. **Public library:** The public library is the community collection of seeds on Lotto Seed that everyone can see. Seed Crunch saves Free and Premium results to the public library, and only Lowest Delta Total seeds can go there. **Private seeds:** Private seeds are Seed Crunch results that only you can see on Lotto Seed. Saving to private seeds needs a Premium Plus plan. **Access token:** An access token connects Seed Crunch to your Lotto Seed account. Log in to lottoseed.com, go to Seed Crunch → Access Tokens and create a token for each computer you use. Then paste the token into Seed Crunch. **Premium Plus:** Premium Plus is the Lotto Seed plan that unlocks all seven Seed Crunch methods, any drawing in a game's history, up to 1,000 results per job and private seeds. **Lotto Seed:** Lotto Seed (lottoseed.com) is the lottery seed platform that Seed Crunch connects to. Seed Crunch sends its results to Lotto Seed, where you can view every seed. **Browser mode (--host):** Browser mode is how Seed Crunch runs without a window. Starting Seed Crunch with `--host` makes it listen on port 6334 so you can use it from a browser, including on another computer. ## Links - [Home](https://seedcrunch.lottoseed.com) - [Documentation](https://seedcrunch.lottoseed.com/docs) - [Lotto Seed integration](https://seedcrunch.lottoseed.com/integrations/lotto-seed) - [Use cases](https://seedcrunch.lottoseed.com/use-cases) - [Glossary](https://seedcrunch.lottoseed.com/glossary) - [Lotto Seed](https://www.lottoseed.com) - [Upgrade to Premium Plus](https://app.lottoseed.com/upgrade)
